How to Make Your LinkedIn Profile Stand Out

    April 30, 2018

So many people put the minimum amount of effort into their LinkedIn profile and then complain about the results. If you want to get noticed, try the following tips.

Actually Fill Out Data on Your Profile

This includes the summary at the top of your profile down to the individual jobs you’ve had. Many people leave the description for their individual jobs blank. You should at minimum copy what’s on your resume to your profile to fill those data fields in.

    Add Media

Wherever possible, add media to your profile to catch a recruiter’s eye. You can add media to your intro, within each individual job, or in your education. Add photos, videos, or presentations to fill out your profile.

    Add a Cover Photo

On a similar note, adding a cover photo definitely makes you stand out among other candidates on LinkedIn. It also brings a bit of personality to your profile and makes it memorable. Try adding a photo of your city, your current company, or maybe a scenic view that you really enjoy.

    Fill Out Your Skills

When you populate the skills that you have, others can endorse you for them. You can then order them in terms of importance on your profile.

    Ask for Recommendations

Recommendations on LinkedIn are today’s referral letters. When you finish a major project, leave a company, or after you help an important client, ask for a recommendation. It’s good to have a variety of recommendations from different types of people, whether it be a client, manager, or peer.

    Actively Post, Comment, or Like

When you are active on the site, your activity will show up more often for your connections. Even if you’re not regularly posted original content, you can still easily log on to interact with content by commenting or liking.
